Revision [65]
This is an old revision of AdHocVM made by JohnMcIntosh on 2008-09-07 21:46:59.
If you do not have an Apple SDK, then you must (at this time) talk to someone who owns an Apple iPhone SDK kit. That person can build an AdHoc application that will run for ONE YEAR on upto 100 devices.
For a limited time John McIntosh is offering that service (one device per person), you must then email him with your iPod Touch or iPhone's UUID. To find your iPhone's UDID, just plug it into your computer and wait until iTunes recognizes it. Select your phone from the Devices list in iTunes and click the "Summary" tab. To see your UDID, click on the word "serial number" beside the picture of the iPhone. You should see the word "identifer" and an alphanumeric string – this is your UDID.
To copy it, just press command + C on your Mac's keyboard (or control + C in Windows).
From time to time he will build a new VM and place that at
ftp://ftp.smalltalkconsulting.com/experimental/iPhoneAdHoc
You can find version and UUID information in the file
VersionAndUUIDInformation.rtf
to see which version of the VM will run on your device
To install you must download the two files:
SqueakBaseAdHocA.mobileprovision
Squeak1.02b1.app.zip
or later version of the VM to your computer, then double-click on the *.zip file to unzip it which should result in creating a Squeak.app file.
Now drag the Squeak.app and the *. mobileprovision to to iTunes when your iPod or iPhone is connected to have iTunes install the VM in iTunes.
Now sync your device and ensure it syncs all the applications or the selected applications as desired.
Jail Broken Devices, we think these devices will not install applications via iTunes. If this is the case (undetermined) you likely must restore your device
back to the Official Apple firmware. Check the internet for more information why iTunes will not sync AdHoc applications to your device.
